2020 Spring Foundation Inspection
3/19/2020 (Permalink)
Spring is here and with it comes the perfect time to get outside of your home and check your foundation for any imperfections or potential dangers. During the winter months it is possible for water to seep into cracks in your foundation and freeze and expand, creating larger gaps than there were previously. This significantly increases the chance of flooding or water and mold damage during the rainy Spring time months.
Flooding can occur at any time and in any place, one way to help mitigate the possibility of having water seep into your basement is to make sure that your downspout is at least 3 feet away from the foundation of your home. Doing this will help make sure that any water from the excess Spring rains and the melting Winter snow will be deposited awake from the foundation of your home and absorbed by the dirt.
When checking your foundation for possible issues be sure to be on the look out for things that you don't remember being there before the Winter season. These could be freshly cracked areas that could possibly grow larger and create a bigger structural issue in the future.
